The first energy of nature in the element of air is the wind. She gently rustles the leaves or blows so forcefully into our lives that she shakes everything up.
As we move from water into the element of air, we are no longer within the realm of the emotions but the realm of consciousness. This quality of nature expands our understanding. She brings us new insights, helps us change our mind about things, and deepens our consciousness.
Sometimes turbulent, it is not always easy to submit to her blowing and expanding winds. The more rigid we are, the more likely our branches or even our trunk is to break. She teaches us to be supple and to embrace our ever-evolving understanding of the world around us.
In the afro-Brazilian tradition this feminine quality of nature is known as Iansá.
